It can be hard being around people that are trying to protect you from everything and want to make sure you are safe ALL the time! :D I think your trips to the store are great! I do it too and that is just to get away from my family cuz the bug me to clean! haha The fear of the unknown. I just about broke down in tears when I saw that! It's not the death.
